By Sharon Hollar Correspondent A special meeting was held March 13 prior to the town council meeting. Daniel W. Richard of the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission Office informed the council of information and maps concerning joining them. No decision was made at the meeting. The regular council meeting opened with Ordinance 2007-01 being established for the appropriation of $3,813.52 for the Rainy Day Fund. Clerk-Treasurer Laura Baker informed the council of an earlier meeting she attended with an employee of the State Board of Accounts and his approval of the capital assets. An audit will be held in a few months as the schedule permits. Position and Clerk-Treasurer bonds were also discussed. The council was pleased to hear one of the letters sent out from the clerk-treasurer pertaining to outstanding accounts has been paid in full. Since the weather is changing, the council will be able to go out and do more checking on properties that are in violation of codes for junk vehicles or that are in need of clean up. Further steps will be taken to assure residents are compliant. It was pointed out that a couple paragraphs needed correction and clarification of the language for employees’ vacations in the draft copy of the Employee Handbook.
The Clerk-Treasurer was given approval to supply Bates Corporation with specifications for the water and waste water for the addition to the town. They will be referred to the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission for specifications on roads and streets. A letter will be issued to a Main St. resident concerning a dog running loose, and trash that has accumulated since snow has melted. Quotes will be obtained concerning the painting of the exterior of the water tower. The timer will be changed on the lights at Heritage ark to correspond with the time change and the park closing. Phend and Brown will be repairing areas in the streets that had problems with water lines and had to be dug up. A decision was made to have the council members paid quarterly instead of semi-annually. Hydrant flushing will be scheduled for April 3 and 4. A date for large trash day pick up will be announced at the next council meeting. The next Etna Green Town Council meeting is to be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. in the town hall meting room. Residents are welcomed to attend.
