Robber suspect at other banks E-mail
Thursday, 24 December 2009
By Rusty Nixon Correspondent
PLYMOUTH — A recent robbery at 1st Source Bank in Plymouth has become a joint investigation with another northern Indiana jurisdiction.

Plymouth Police have reason to believe that the same individual who al-legedly robbed the local 1st Source Bank branch Dec. 4 has also committed at least one other bank robbery in Valparaiso.
“I know that (Plymouth Police Officer) Steve DeLee has been in contact with a detective in Valparaiso and that they are working together on the case,” said Plymouth Police Chief Jim Cox. “Judging from the surveillance cameras and other evidence, we have reason to believe that the same individual committed both robberies.”
On Dec. 4, just after 1 p.m., a single male entered 1st Source Bank on Michigan Street in Plymouth and produced a note demanding money.
The suspect left with an undetermined amount of cash.
There were reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had also become involved in the case, which Cox could not confirm.
“I know that I asked them (the detectives) to contact the FBI but I can say that normally the FBI won’t get involved with a case like this unless it’s an armed robbery. There usually has to be a weapon involved,” said Cox. “However, when a case crosses jurisdictions like this, sometimes they will help on that kind of case.”
At the time of the Plymouth robbery, police issued a description of the suspect – a white male with a husky build and dark facial hair. At the time of the Plymouth robbery he was wearing blue jeans, white shirt, a faded Carhartt coat, and a dark color knit stocking cap.
