    ROCHESTER — Jerry DeVane Blanchard, 65, of Rochester, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at 2:18 p.m. at Hospice Center, South Bend.
    Arrangements are pending with Good Family Funeral Home, Argos.

Nov. 15, 2009
    WINAMAC — Ray N. Carey, 77, of Knox, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.
    He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons: Mike (Janet) Carey of North Liberty and Chuck (Jennie) Carey of Plymouth; a sister, Phyllis (Bill) Wayne of Calif.; brothers: Jim (Beth) Carey of Fla. and Al (Delores) Carey of Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will take place Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
    Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
    Burial will follow at Bass Lake Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to the Knox cross country, John Glenn cross country or soccer or Oregon-Davis girls basketball team programs.

    TIPPECANOE — Grace M. Creviston, 86, of Tippecanoe, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at 12:12 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
    She is survived by sons: Fearol (Betty) Baxter and Robin Ritchison, all of Tippecanoe; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-children: Lois Baker, Rachael Baker and Carl Ritchison; sisters: Ora Petty and Wanda Lane, both of Dixon, Tenn.; and brothers: Al Watkins of Crawfordsville, Chuck Watkins of Dixon, Tenn., Bill Watkins of White Bluff, Tenn. and John Watkins of Dixon, Tenn.
    Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe.

    TYNER — Charles “Pete” Griggs, 59, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 in Elkhart Hospice House at 3:25 p.m.
    He is survived by his wife Carol; daughters: Casey Lott and Morgan Lott,  both of South Bend; seven step-children: Carol Dombkowski and Donna Watts, both of Plymouth, Angelia Coad of Monterey, Deanna Payne of LaPorte, Daniel Payne of West Columbia, Texas, and Russell Payne of Culver; six brothers; five sisters; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
    Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in the Tyner Cemetery, Tyner.
    Memorial gifts in Charles’ name may be made to The Elkhart Hospice House, 22579 Old US 20 East, Elkhart, IN. 46516.

    MILFORD — Phyllis Miller, 80, of Nappanee, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at 1:55 p.m. at Lakeland Loving Care, Milford.
    She is survived by a daughter, Connie (George) Newkirk of Nappanee; a son, Michael (Barbara) Miller of Bourbon; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma (Gary) Montgomery of Bourbon.
    Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
    Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
    Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice.

Timothy “Ted” Singleton            
Nov. 13, 2009
    KNOX-Timothy “Ted” Singleton, 81, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 in his home.  
    He is survived by two sisters: Ruby Snyder and Betty Reese, both of Knox; three brothers: Ray Singleton, Joe Singleton Sr. and Tennis Singleton Jr., all of Knox; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. (Central Time) Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Washington Township Community Building, Knox. A celebration gathering will take place Saturday at the community building at 1 p.m. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.   

Pollyanna Smith            
Nov. 15, 2009
    GROVERTOWN-Pollyanna Smith, 76, died Sunday, Nov.15, 2009 in Porter Hospital, Valparaiso Campus.  
    She is survived by her husband, Harold; a son, Dennis Smith of Grovertown; one daughter, Diane Stacy of Knox; one grandson; brothers: Donald (Donnis) French of Georgia and Larry French of Ohio; sisters: Peggy (Harry) Bucher of Florida and Connie Forgrave of Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Betty French of LaCrosse.  
    Visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and Friday after from 10 to 11 a.m.
    Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

    ROCHESTER — Connie Nees Vansteenberg, 64, of Rochester, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Hickory Creek Health Care of Rochester.
    She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bryant of Rochester; three nieces; and five nephews.
    Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 and an hour prior to services Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.    
 Funeral services will take place Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rochester’s IOOF Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Hickory Creek, Hope Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

    PLYMOUTH — James D. “J.D.” Watson, 57, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 4:20 a.m. at his home.
    He is survived by his mother, Jean Watson of Plymouth; his son, Gabriel Watson of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his sisters, Andrea “Andy” and Stan Bunch of Columbus, Ind., Sara Lisa and Dan Doody of Bourbon, Jennifer Sue and Tom Read of Plymouth; his brothers, Bill and Lois Watson of Plymouth, Timothy A. “Homer” and Jeannie Watson of Plymouth, Charles M. and Della Watson of Argos, and Jon G. and Kathy Watson of Rochester; several nieces and nephews and one grandchild.
    There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, was entrusted with arrangements.
