By Ida Chipman Correspondent PLYMOUTH — For one day this fall , from noon to 6 p.m., you could test drive a new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle at Oliver Ford in Plymouth and earn money for a partnered school’s athletic program. Called the Drive One 4 UR School Program, the event is a successful fund raiser as well as generating interest in the vehicles offered for sale.
One-hundred and seventy drivers jumped in the driver’s seat in Plymouth and – at $20 apiece – raised over three thousand dollars for the Plymouth Athletic Boosters Club. And, for the second year, they had a good time doing it. “With all school budgets tight – this is a great way to support the athletic programs,” Jennifer Oliver Houin said. “The dollars will,” according to Jeni Hirschy, vice-president of the Booster’s Club, “go to senior athletic awards, college scholarships and donations to different athletic programs at the High school, Junior High and Riverside schools.” In the two-year span, the program has raised almost $7,000. Jennifer Houin said that “as long as the Ford Motor Company sponsors this event, we will be a part of it!”
