By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH – Marshall County Coroner William Clevenger has confirmed that a resident from the county tested positive for the H1N1 virus in an autopsy.
“I want everyone to keep in mind that this was a positive test for H1N1 during the autopsy and not necessarily the cause of death,” said Clevenger. “There were other complications in the case.” Clevenger said that autopsies for Marshall County are performed by the South Bend Medical Foundation. He also said that the exact cause of death was yet to be determined, but normally such findings are made in six to eight weeks. The South Bend Medical Foundation confirmed that the test for the H1N1 virus has become standard in all autopsies. Clevenger also confirmed that this is the first case reported to him of a positive H1N1 test in a death in the county. Confidentiality requirements preclude the release of the name of the individual.
