By Jeff Kenney Staff Writer
CULVER — Culver Elementary School played host to the 25th annual Marshall County Young Author’s Conference Thursday night and marked the occasion with a visit from award-winning children’s author Carolyn Crimi.
Crimi shared time with students at the school before a private book signing and “meet and greet” with winners in the conference’s annual student writing contest, and gave an address to parents and students in the school’s recently-renovated gymnasium.

Pioneers slip past Ancilla in home season opener E-mail
Tuesday, 10 November 2009
PLYMOUTH — Freshman Troy Weatherford scored 22 points, but a shorthanded Ancilla College team was unable to hold off Delta College on Saturday, falling 89-84 to the Pioneers.
The Chargers (0-1) activated only seven players for the game and appeared to lose some steam midway through the second half, conceding the lead and, eventually, the game.
Weatherford, a freshman guard from Louisville, KY, led all scorers by shooting 8-for-11 from the field while adding three blocks on the day for the Chargers.
Plymouth graduate P.J. Gretter and fellow sophomore Cory Proffitt  each added 19 points on the day for Ancilla.
Delta (3-0) was led by Rahmus Wingard and Winthrop Thomas, who each scored 15 points for the Pioneers.
