By Angel Perkins Staff Writer BOURBON — Triton’s Performing Arts Center was the center for school spirit with members of the high school and middle school choirs, and bands: “The Spirit of Triton” marching band and middle school band performing numbers also patriotic to our country. Song themes stayed true to honoring America and the various periods throughout its history from folk tunes to ragtime and Native American themes to rock-n-roll.
This performance was a first for student teacher Deborah Burkett whom Triton Musical Director Peter J. Foster credited for managing. To show his appreciation he thanked Burkett’s parents who attended the event and then presented her with a plaque and two batons with a carrying case, after explaining to those gathered in the PAC (auditorium) that her baton had broken and been repaired on more than one occasion. The Triton Jr.-Sr. High School Christmas Program is slated to take place Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
