By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH — One area food source is trying to do its part to help another this weekend. Martin’s Super Market of Plymouth will be making a bid to fill a bus with food to donate to local food pantries at the start of the busiest time of the year for food banks. The Marshall County Neighborhood Center and House of the Lord Food Pantry will receive the donations taken Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“I talked to the (people at the) Neighborhood Center just the other day and they are out of food,” said Shawn Morrow, assistant manager of the Plymouth store. “We’ll have volunteers here taking do-nations and we’ll have lists of things for shoppers who come in if they want to purchase and extra item and donate.” The push is part of a store-wide effort for Martin’s around the area. “All the stores do what they can every year,” said Morrow. “We are just happy to be able to help out two of our pantries here in Mar-shall County.” According to Morrow, last year’s drive was a very successful one and he is hopeful for Saturday’s push. “You just don’t know; the past few months I’ve had the feeling that things are really tough for people so you never really know what to expect,” he said. “We’re hopeful things will go well. This is such a giving community. Every time we ask people to come and help there always seems to be a big turnout. We’re very optimistic.” While Saturday is the day of the drive, Morrow says that Martin’s will accept donations anytime if people wish to give. “Anything anybody can do to help out is really going to be good for the people of the whole county.”
