By Angel Perkins Staff Writer It was a howling good time for some local kids Saturday afternoon as they took part in the annual Halloween festivities held at the Bourbon American Legion Post #424. Though they say strength is in the numbers, the small turnout of about 20 kids allowed for every child to win a prize in the costume contest and they were all in proper attire representing princesses to pirates and robots to garden gnomes.
Their small numbers also allowed for them to have good chances during the other games including the putting game, mummy wrap, musical chairs, Twinkie and donut eating contests and a shuffleboard shoot game. They also got a chance to decorate their own pumpkins (and goodie bags) with crayons, markers, stamps and stickers for the pumpkin contest. There was face painting, guess the number of candies in the bottle (and the number of pieces of gum in the bottle. Winners of the costume judging were as follows: Under 1 year — Tie, Brayden Comp and Evan Vuittonet 3 and 4 year olds — First place, Kaiden Sawyer; second, Raegan Spindler; third, Shade Trent 6 and 7 year olds — First place, Lucas Comp; second, Lilly Hubert 8 year olds — First place, Shelby Ritter; second, Cage Walker; third, Chaz Swift Nine and 10 year olds — First place, Mindy Dreibelbis; second, Griffin Snay; third, Hayley Ritter Overall — First place, Shelby Ritter; second, Lucas Comp; third, Brayden Comp.
