ARGOS — A fire on Saturday at Argos Jr.-Sr. High School means an extra day of summer vacation for all Argos School’s students.

According to Mark Dean, Argos fire chief, an automatic alarm went into the Marshall County emergency center at 10:47 a.m. Saturday. Dean said firefighters from Argos were on the scene within three to four minutes after receiving the alert.

Dean said they were able to contain the fire within a 20-minute time frame and confined the fire to one room since the doors to other rooms were closed.

He said, “The fire was in a computer lab in a room just off the library. It appeared to be electrical.”
There were no reports of any injuries.

A crew from SERVPRO was at the Jr-Sr. High School building on Sunday. SERVPRO specializes in fire and water damage restoration.

Twelve of the 13 firefighters at the scene were volunteers.

Dean said, “We appreciate all the hard work and effort that the volunteers do for us and the Argos community.
