Myles Scott arranges backpacks full of supplies for area kids as part of the "Pack a Backpack" program.

By Rusty Nixon Correspondent
PLYMOUTH — Kids around the county are not going back to school empty handed if Plymouth FOP #195, the Indiana State Police and the Masons have anything to say about it.
Representatives spent much of their day putting together backpacks of school supplies for Marshall County’s kids at the Webster Recreation Center. Back-packs of supplies were set to be picked up by counselors from all the area’s school systems to hand out to kids in need.

“It was really amazing the support we had. Just when you think things are tough and giving will likely be low you get surprised,” said Phil Scott of Plymouth FOP Lodge #195. “We had a fantastic day Saturday with people donating supplies. I think it may have been our best day ever.”
The FOP — which also sponsors the popular “Shop with a Cop” at Christmas – contacts the counselors at all the county schools to donate the supplies to students who may not be able to afford them.
“They know much better than we do who may be in need of supplies,” said Scott. “They’ll be in later this afternoon to pick up their bags and take them back to school to be ready for the first day.”
