By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH — Lending a hand to help those in need is the reason behind a local company’s gestures of good will. Zentis Corporation of Plymouth has made a pair of donations to local organizations designed to do just that. Earlier this week Zentis donated 2,000 jars of jam to the Northern Indiana Food Bank to go out to those in need.
“They get peanut butter by a government program and they were coming to a Plymouth store three times a week to get bread,” said Carmen Yoder, executive assistant to the CEO of Zentis. “They were having to buy the jam — so they were very happy to have it.” While the local Zentis plant does not make jam, the company brings in the product – considered one of the finest jams in Europe – from their home plant for just such projects. “We bring in jam from our home plant in Germany to use as gifts and for projects just like this,” said Yoder. “Finding ways to help the community is a big part of our commitment at Zentis to be a good neighbor.” In a few weeks the company will continue being a good neighbor as they will donate jam for sale at the Blueberry Festival by the members of the Plymouth Sharks Swim Club.
