Fitness Forum is hosting pitching clinic E-mail
Thursday, 23 July 2009

PLYMOUTH — Former Plymouth closer and current Goshen College starting pitcher Shane Kurtz will be holding a clinic for young pitching hopefuls at Fitness Forum in the LifePlex on Aug. 1 and 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Kurtz was a member of the Plymouth Pilgrims’ 2006 regional championship team who closed all four tournament wins in that season. He started his college career at Goshen as their closer but soon made the switch to the starting rotation. He returns to Goshen this year for his senior season.

“We’re going to focus on basic things, defensive drills and mechanics drills that will help pitchers get the most out of their ability,” said Kurtz.

The clinic is open to pitchers from seven years of age to 16.

“Obviously the seven year olds are just getting started on the mound and we’ll focus on simple things to help them get started right,” said Kurtz. “With the older guys we’ll get to some more involved things to fine tune what their doing.”

The clinic is $20 per player and there will be a limited number of participants.

“We want to keep the number of guys down so that I can be sure to see each one of them,” said Kurtz. “It will help me have a good amount of one on one instruction time with each one of them. It should be a lot of fun.”

You can sign up by calling Fitness Forum at the LifePlex at 574-936-2333.
