PLYMOUTH — It was a great weekend to be a kid in the Plymouth area.
Friday night, the Kiddies Parade downtown gave children, parents, grandparents and others an opportunity to be creative and have fun.

Kids were able to join in a parade over a two-block portion of the roped off Michigan Street. Several volunteer judges walked with the participants handing out ribbons to all and applauding. Some children rode in elaborately decorated wagons with a theme and others donned creative costumes.
Linda Rippy, Marshall County Historical museum director, said, “It’s great to see parents and grandparents with the kids.”
Doug Anspach, executive director of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, said the turnout was astounding. Within the first 15 minutes of registration, 89 kids were already signed up.
Anspach said he was thrilled with and appreciative of the volunteers who helped. He said, “This is a great community.”
Saturday, the annual Coca Cola Family Fun Day in Centennial Park proved fun for kids and adults alike.
Entertainment on the Young amphitheater stage included “Mr. Art” with his balloons, the Frontier Magic Show, and Jetta and the Jelly Beans.
Park Director Mike Hite kept busy grilling hot dogs. Coca cola drinks and the hot dogs were provided free of charge to everyone.
Kids found the ideal way to cool off when the Plymouth Fire Department sprayed water from the fire trucks.
Fire volunteer Keith Ellis said, “This is my fourth or fifth year to help with the water spray. It’s really the thing kids look forward to.”
