Richard L. Hershberger Jan. 14, 1954 - June 28, 2009 ROCHESTER — Richard L. Hershberger, 55, a resident of 4559 S.R. 110, Rochester, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 11:55 p.m. in Parkview Hospital of Fort Wayne after complications from Multiple My Loma. Richard was born the son of Mack E. Hershberger and Martha L. Clauss Hershberger on Jan. 14, 1954 in Warsaw. He had resided his entire life in the Bourbon and Rochester area. He was a 1972 graduate of Triton High School. He was a great hunter. He enjoyed hunting deer especially. He even was able to shoot his last buck deer from his own front porch. He and his friend Jerry Fisher even went hunting Black Bear in Canada where he was able to get his prize bear which he had in his home. He was a faithful member of the Warsaw Church of God. Survivors include his mother, Martha L. Hershberger of Bourbon and several cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Mack; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Hazel Clauss; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Alma Hershberger. A celebration of Richard’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2 in The Country Church, S.R. 331 north of Bourbon with Pastor Stephen Hargrave of Warsaw Church of God and Pastor David Gould of The Country Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 in The Country Church. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery. Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of the arrangements. Hilda L. Faulkner Oct. 17, 1910 - June 28, 2009 BOURBON — Hilda L. Faulkner, 98, of 12057 Elm Rd., Bourbon, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 28, 2009 in the Community Hospital of Bremen with her family at her side. Hilda was born in rural Nappanee on Oct. 17, 1910 to Grover Wyman and Estella Sechrist Wyman. Hilda was a resident of the Bourbon area. She married Carl E. Faulkner on Dec. 25, 1928. He died April 14, 1990. She was a faithful member of the Bourbon United Pentecostal Church where she rarely missed a service until about a year ago for health reasons. She also taught Sunday School for the toddlers. She enjoyed crocheting, making plastic canvas crafts for her church bazaar and baking sugar cookies. She also loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a homemaker and had worked at Orthopedic Equipment Company as a hand sewer making leg splints for the Army. She was also able to travel to Europe with her husband for OEC in the early 1960s and was able to tour many of the countries. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Weissert of Bourbon; her two sons: Don (Barbara) Faulkner of Bourbon and Tom (Norma) Faulkner of Brandenton, Fla. She also has 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy (Walter) Sult of Sturgis, Mich. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty; her husband; a son-in-law, Ernie Weissert; and her three brothers: Dallas, Henry and Ward Wyman. A celebration of Hilda’s life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2 in the United Pentecostal Church, 201 N. Bourbon St., with Rev. Mark Cottrill officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 in the church, and for one hour before services Thursday in the church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon. Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of the arrangements. Karen S. Welch Oct. 2, 1959 – June 27, 2009 PLYMOUTH — Karen S. Welch, 49, a 25-year resident of Middletown, Conn. and formerly of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27 in Sioux Falls, S.D. while traveling with her parents, Plymouth residents Merle J. and Carol J. (Suter) Welch. Her death came while she was attempting to visit all 50 states by her 50th birthday on October 2 of this year. She accomplished 48 — leaving Mississippi and Louisiana. Karen was born in 1959, at Plymouth. She was a 1978 graduate of the LaVille High School and Ball State University in 1982 with a degree in Computer Science. Every day brought something new to Karen’s life and she enjoyed a fulfilling career in insurance and financial services. She began that career in Hamilton, Ohio with Ohio Casualty prior to her move to Hartford, Conn., joining the Travelers and on to The Hartford Financial Services Group. She was committed to her faith and family. As a member of the West Hartford United Methodist Church she loved serving as a Sunday school teacher in the pre-school program along with taking part in “Ladies Night Out.” Karen looked forward to spending time with her family and coming home to Plymouth visiting her parents and only sibling Steve, his wife Patty and special niece and nephew; Stephanie of Chicago and Ryan Welch of Plymouth. A fun time was always had while playing games and cards with family and friends. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles; Art and Marge Suter, Linda and Gene Piper, Richard and Joan Welch and Jean Shrout. She will be remembered as being a happy, unselfish and giving person often found reading a book likely written by Stephen King. Karen also collected Winnie the Pooh and Disney movies. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Karen during a visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2 at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3 in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 S. Michigan St., Plymouth with calling there one hour prior to services. The Rev. John Branch will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery and memorial gifts may be given in her memory to the West Hartford Church, Plymouth Wesleyan Church or St. Michael School OPZ Project.
