Lt. Colonel Thomas Siebenthal, formerly of Knox, with his daughter, U.S. Navy Corpsman HN Keely Siebenthal Sareno and her husband, Marine Sergeant Aaron Sareno met with President Barack Obama. President Obama visited Siebenthal, and some 20 wounded Marines and their spouses when he was at Camp Lejeune, N.C. making his first military-related policy speech.
Lt. Colonel Siebenthal and his family also met with the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (Admiral Mike Mullen) and the Secretary of Defense (Robert Gates). President Obama took time to talk individually to each wounded Marine and their spouse... and thanked those on Siebenthal’s staff for the care and support being provided to the newest American heroes. Siebenthal is the Battalion Commander for Wounded Warrior Battalion-East: One of two battalions under the Wounded Warrior Regiment of the United States Marine Corps. His battalion is responsible for supporting all combat-wounded and severely injured Marines (and their families) who are generally east of the Mississippi River (also includes Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio). Siebenthal is the son of Doris Siebenthal. She resides in Knox.
