Pilot Photo/Carol Anders PLYMOUTH — Supporters of the Marshall and Fulton County Red Cross Chapter continue efforts make the public aware of the ongoing needs to help victims of disaster emergencies. Friday, volunteers Carol Arnett, Odette Husband and Grace Blanding along with Director James Hale set up a hot dog tent on Michigan Street in Plymouth to help spread the word.
Hale said, “With decreased allocations and fewer monetary donations, we are hurting.” Hale said there have been 21 fires this year as opposed to 11 last year where their assistance was requested. “Due to the economy, most of the home fires were in houses that extended families lived in,” he said. The Red Cross provides emergency shelter, food and clothing for victims of fires and other emergencies that leave residents homeless. The Red Cross will be holding a fundraiser featuring Quentin Flagg on June 27 at the Plymouth VFW and a motorcycle ride Aug. 1. For more information on these and other opportunities to help the Red Cross, call 574-936-3928.
