    ROCHESTER — Gloria F. Ballenger, 81, of Rochester, died at 8:22 a,n, Wednesday, May 19, 2009  at  the Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport.
    She is survived by her husband Herbert of Rochester; daughter, Krystal K. Smith of Rochester; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, John (Marilyn) Ensign of Peru.
    A celebration of the life of Gloria F. Ballenger will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23in the First Christian Church, Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery of Athens.
    Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or to the charity of ones choice.

    NORTH JUDSON — Robert James Blount, 68, of North Judson, died Monday, May 18, 2009.
    He is survived by his wife, Earlene Blount of North Judson; sons: Mike Blount of North Judson, Earl Blount of Plymouth, Timothy Blount of Las Vegas, Nev. and Bob Blount of North Judson; daughter, Sharon Blount of North Judson; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Bill Blount of Campsville, Ky., LeRoy Blount of Morocco and David Blount of LaPorte; and sister, Pat Blount of Knox.
    There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Highland Cemetery.

    GROVERTOWN — William M. Mattson, 70, died Monday, May 18, 2009  in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox.      Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; son, James Mattson; daughters: Joy Chavez, Lynn Williams, Billie Jo Mattson, Amy Mattson and Kerrie Neal; sister, Mildred Mattson; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    There will be no services or visitation. 
    Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. is handling the arrangements.

    PLYMOUTH — Arthur O. “Art” Ringer, 92, of Plymouth died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
    Arrangements are pending at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth.

    BREMEN — Richard W. Schaeffer, 80, of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Schaeffer of Lake of the Woods, Bremen; daughters: Lynn Schaeffer of Plymouth and Valerie (Mike) Scuillo of Henderson, Nev.; stepsons: Robert Eberhardt of Oklahoma and Richard (Debbie) Eberhardt of Bremen; stepdaughter, Barbara (Frank) Washnock of Wyatt; brother, John (Betty) Schaeffer of Plymouth; sisters: Susan Burk of Peru and Judy (Lynn) De Fries of Elkhart; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
    Services will be private.
    Memorials may be made to the Bremen VFW Post #8972 Parking Lot Fund.
    The Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, is in charge of the arrangements.

    PLYMOUTH — Ilene June Sherman, 77, of Plymouth, died  at 9:53 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home.
    She is survived by her husband, Jack Sherman; sister, Connie Suntz of Denning, Texas; and three grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23 at noon at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with a time of visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
    Memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, or the Marshall County Cancer Association.
