Thirty downtown businesses are taking part in a weekend full of events, including horse-drawn carriage rides Friday. In addition to the rides, carolers have been filling the Garro Street area downtown with music.

Young earns Notre Dame scholarship E-mail

PLYMOUTH — Thomas Young, a senior at Plymouth High School, was honored during half-time of the Blue/Gold game at The University of Notre Dame to receive the Notre Dame Alumni Club of St. Joseph Valley Scholarship. 
Young was one of nine outstanding area high school students who was selected to receive a four-year scholarship to attend Notre Dame.
Stacy Sheetz, counselor at Plymouth High School, was  estatic to hear that Young had been chosen for an inteview with the Notre Dame Alumni.
“As a counselor, you really get to know these students — not only as students but as people. And Thomas is not only an outstanding student, but a remarkable young man,” Sheetz said.
She said she knew Young would inteview well.
“He is just the kind of young man that when you meet him, you know will do wonderful things someday,” she said. “Plymouth High School is very proud of Tom and all his accomplishments.”
Thomas, the son of Tom and Bea Young, will study computer science and business this fall at Notre Dame.
