By Mandy McFarland Editor NAPPANEE — In recent times two topics have been at the forefront of people’s minds: the economy and the “green” movement. With this in mind, one Nappanee business owner has found an environmentally friendly way to keep ink in people’s printers and a little leftover cash in their pockets. Paul Graber, founder of Ink-4-You, Inc., knows that in today’s technology-based world, individuals and businesses rely heavily on their printers, fax machines, etc. However, keeping these machines well-supplied with ink can be a major burden on both the wallet and the environment. The solution? Turn in the empty ink or toner cartridges and purchase some that have been refilled.
Graber is able to refill and resell ink cartridges for a variety of printers and fax machines, including HP, Brother, Cannon, Dell, Lexmark and others. Customers can turn in their used cartridges for $2 credit apiece, then purchase what they need for far less than the brand-new cartridges would cost. “It’s started off very well because people are looking to cut costs,” Graber said. Graber also pointed out the green aspect of reusing ink cartridges. Statistically, he said, approximately 375 million gallons of oil go into the production of new ink jets, toners and so forth each year. That, he said, does not even count the ink. All of this goes along with the motto Graber has adopted for Ink-4-You: “Reducing cost, reducing waste, because we care.” For those who are concerned with reusing old ink cartridges, Graber tests each cartridge to determine if it is reusable and, if so, approximately how many uses are left. “There’s lots and lots of room for people to improve on recycling those cartridges at least once,” he said. For those who would like to reuse their own ink cartridges, Graber can easily fulfill that order as well, but the customer would have to make that request specifically. Ink-4-You Inc. currently has a display at the Nappanee Martin's Super Market. A variety of inks are avai-lable. For those brands not included on the display, customers would need to contact Graber. Those who would like to learn more abut Ink-4-You Inc. can call Graber at 773-4319.
