By Rusty Nixon Correspondent PLYMOUTH — A local company will get a taste of the whirlwind that is ABC’s hit show “Extreme Makover: Home Edition.” “We got a call about two weeks ago, from another contractor in our business asking us if we would come down to Indianapolis and help them,” said Kyle Hoover, project and sales manager for Indiana Insulation in Plymouth. “There are going to be four contractors doing the spray foam installation on the project and we were very excited to be a part of helping out this family.” The show will be “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” season finale and will be aired during sweeps week in the middle of May. Estridge Homes, a premier builder in the Indianapolis area, is building the energy-efficient home for a deserving family.
Indiana Insulation will provide the spray foam insulation for the project that began with the door knock Saturday, March 28. The whole project, from start to finish, is all done in 106 hours. Hoover and his Indiana Insulation crew will be doing their part this afternoon. “We’ve spent the last three working days making sure we’ve got everything to be sure that it’s right and ready,” said Hoover. The point of the show is teamwork, as many different contractors come together to build and furnish an entire home in one week. “It really says something about the spirit of the show and why we want to be involved when one of your competitors calls you on the phone and asks you to help them out,” said Hoover. “It’s all about helping the community and doing a good thing for the family.” Indiana Insulation is locally owned and operated out of Plymouth. Spray foam insulation is recognized as one of the greenest improvements you can do on a home, not only by the material used in the making of the chemical, but the impact that it gives the home owner cutting lifelong utilities expenses in half. Hoover says that he and his wife watch the show each week, and that added to the excitement of being asked to participate. So is being on Extreme Makover the same for a contractor as being on American Idol would be to a want-to-be rock star? “It would be nice to think that we’re at the top of our game like that,” said Hoover with a laugh. “Really it’s all about helping people and doing good things in the community.”
