PLYMOUTH — Vernon L. Stiles, 83, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 3:25 p.m., at the Elkhart Hospice House, in Elkhart.
Vern was born May 26, 1930, in Plymouth, to Ellis Sr. and Lillian (Morrow) Stiles. Vern married Phyllis Milliser on July 15, 1979, in Plymouth. He retired from Plymouth High School as the head maintenance director. He later worked at the Fountain Head Golf Course, which is now called Plymouth Rock. Vern served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #1162 of Plymouth and attended the Bethel Tabernacle, in Argos.
Vern is survived by his wife Phyllis Stiles; his son, Steve Stiles of Chapin, S.C.; his grandchildren, Jodi Stiles of Deland, Fla., Staci and Shawn McCarty of Plymouth, and Dustin Stiles of New York; and his brother, Larry Stiles of Cornersville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his four sisters.
