ARGOS — Verna Lou (Martin) Stevens, 73, of Argos died Dec. 21, 2012 at 6:20 a.m. at St. Vincent’s Hospice in Indianapolis. She had been in declining health for several months.
She was born Oct. 28, 1939 in Tippecanoe to Virgil R. (Bud) and Mildred Olive (Baer) Martin. She had lived in Argos for 52 years coming from Tippecanoe.
Dec. 9, 1960 in Rochester, she married Harold “Curly” Dean Stevens. He preceded her April 20, 2012.
She was a homemaker/housewife. She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School. Verna most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved crossword puzzles and vacationing with her husband.
She is survived by son – Douglas D. Stevens and wife Christine of Noblesville; three grandchildren – Cory Neal, Zachary Stevens, Amanda Stevens; and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Harold “Curly” Stevens, daughter – Deana Stevens, and sister – Janice McClain.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday Dec. 26, 2012 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ, 15676 Michigan Road, Argos with Rev. Lloyd Howard of the Church of Jesus Christ, Argos officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
