VanDerWeele and Argos rally past John Glenn, 41-39

November 11, 2011

WALKERTON — Argos’ girls basketball team needed something, anything, to get on track offensively in the fourth quarter Thursday at John Glenn.
Karlee VanDerWeele delivered.
The Argos junior forward drained a crucial 3-pointer with 5:21 left in the game to accelerate a game-changing 11-0 run as the Dragons withstood a 22-point outburst from Glenn freshman Kyler Columbia, and clawed out a 41-39 come-from-behind season-opening win at The Aerie.
VanDerWeele, whose 3 cut Argos’ deficit to two, finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Dragons, who led throughout the first half despite committing 13 turnovers before the intermission and 28 for the game against the Falcons’ switching halfcourt man and multiple full-court defenses.
