Turnovers lead Cavaliers past Trojans

October 29, 2011

CULVER — The Culver Cavaliers exacted revenge on West Central for an earlier season defeat in typical, grind-it-out fashion Friday night.
After West Central went up early with a 23-yard touchdown run at the 8:37 stop of the first quarter, the Cavs responded with two scores of their own from Kevin Hogan — a 3- and 2-yard run — to take a 14-8 lead and never looked back in a 24-14 win over the Trojans in a Sectional 33 semifinal at Culver.
When asked about any extra motivation the kids might have for this game, Cavs coach Andy Thomas said, “No, they knew it was win or go home, that’s all the motivation we needed.”
