Trojans fall in OT at NorthWood

December 4, 2010

NAPPANEE — Triton’s ice-cold 3-point shooting finally caught up with it in overtime.
The Class A No. 2 Trojans connected on just 4 of 25 attempts from downtown — 0 for 6 in the extra session — and scuffled to a 28.8 percent clip from the field overall in a 50-43 overtime loss to NorthWood’s boys basketball team Friday at The Pit.
To exacerbate the frustration, the Trojans, who led most of the night, built a 35-27 advantage with 5:39 left in regulation and led until Michael Paul’s 3-pointer knotted the game at 40-all with 29 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Quentyn Carpenter’s well-defended 3-point try rattled off the rim for Triton with 2 seconds left in the fourth to send the game into overtime.
“We didn’t execute offensively,” Triton head coach Jason Groves said. “We didn’t execute very well in the first half against Plymouth (Tuesday), and then we shot 80 percent in the second half. We didn’t execute either half tonight.”
