Triton’s Yeo is IBCA/ Subway Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS — Triton senior Clay Yeo was selected as one of seven IBCA/Subway Player of the Week selections for the week of Dec. 10-15.
Other boys selections were Adams Central senior Dalton Combs, Indianapolis Lutheran senior J.C. Faubion and Evansville Bosse junior JaQuan Lyle, while Logansport junior Whitney Jennings, Brownsburg senior Stephanie Mavunga and Sullivan senior Rhagen Smith were also honored in the weekly recognition program organized by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
The 6-5 Yeo averaged 33 points over two games to earn recognition. First the Valparaiso University signee netted 37 points in leading Triton to a 72-36 win over Bethany Christian. Then he added 29 points in pacing the Trojans (4-3) to a 51-27 victory over New Prairie.
Combs poured in 45 points in his only game of the week, Faubion twice scored 42 points, and Lyle averaged 32 points, 12.3 rebounds and 10.7 assists over three games.
The 5-6 Jennings averaged 25 points and 7 assists in a pair of games for Logansport (10-0). Mavunga averaged 41.5 points and 15 rebounds, and Smith averaged 29.5 points over two games for Sullivan (8-2).
This is the fifth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the first season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a primary sponsor of the IBCA. Subway, in its third season as an IBCA sponsor, encourages athletes to “play hard and eat fresh.”
Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 2. Boys winners be selected from now through the week following March 23.
