Toddler needs new treatment for rare disease

September 2, 2010

Xavier Boyd has battled illness almost from the moment he was born. His parents, Bo and Lindsay Boyd did what any concerned parent would do — they took their son to physician after physician in search of answers. After months of endless tests, the Boyds finally learned what was making their child ill. Xavier was diagnosed with a rare disease: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) an inflammation that’s not infection, which causes Xavier to lose nearly everything that he ingests. Additional information in September 2 Leader.
