COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — Theresa M. (Perry) Banks, 93, of Comstock Park, Mich., formerly of Monterey, passed away Aug. 11, 2013 at the age of 93.
Theresa was born April 30, 1920 in Kewanna to Leu Jay and Bertha Perry. She was baptized at St. Ann Parish in Kewanna and spent her childhood at farms with four older sisters and two brothers (one older and one younger). She married Lloyd Banks on April 20, 1940 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Monterey. They had three sons: Donald, Kenneth, and Dennis. The family spent the early years in the Pontiac, Mich. area. After their children grew up, Theresa and Lloyd moved to Toledo, Ohio and retired a few years later. They bought a summer house on the Tippecanoe River in Monterey in 1982 and spent 23 years there and traveling to all the states and Mexico. They then moved to Comstock Park, Mich. (Grand Rapids area) to be closer to their two sons and wives (Don and Carol and Ken and Susan). Dennis was living in Cuernavaca, Merolos, Mexico. Both Theresa and Lloyd attend the “Holy Trinity” Catholic Church near home.
Theresa is survived by her husband Lloyd and three sons: Donald and Carol Banks, Grand Rapids, Mich., Kenneth and Susan Banks, Grand Haven, Mich., and Dennis Banks, Cuernavaca, Merolos, Mexico; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Owen Banks, Bryon Hugh Banks, Bridget Ann Wright, and Lori Ellen Brantley; five great-grandchildren: Anne Marie Wright, Jacob Emery Wright, Grace Elizabeth Wright, Steven Perry Brantley, and Rachel Faye Brantley. She survived six siblings: Viola Smith, Culver, Mable Cecrie, Mesa, Ariz., Helen Crist, Kewanna, Anna Parcel, Winamac, Lawrence Perry, Kewanna, and Dr. Charles Perry, Colorado.
A time of visitation will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Father Bert Woolson will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Monterey on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Monterey.
Memorials may be given to St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
