Sullivan, Intensity win Swing for a Cure tourney
ELKHART — The Indiana Intensity 18U girls fastpitch team sponsored by Personnel Partners and RBI’s Unlimited went 6-0 to win the first annual “Swing for a Cure” Tournament held at Riverview Park in Elkhart.
The team consists of high school players from St. Joseph, Marian, Riley, Adams, Penn, Washington, Concord and Plymouth. By winning the tournament, the Intensity qualified for the NSA World Series in Northwest Indiana.
Plymouth product and Ancilla College signee Marissa Sullivan went 3-0 inside the circle with a save in the Intensity’s fourth game. She struck out the final two batters with the bases loaded in the championship game as the Intensity trumped Summit City Stealth by a narrow 3-2 margin.
To get to the championship, the Intensity earned wins over Prayer Warriors 7-1, Hurricanes Black 6-0, Twist by forfeit, the Indiana Waverunners 4-0 and Summit City Stealth, 6-2.
