Student art displayed, awarded at annual Tri Kappa art show

Culver's Tri Kappa once again held its annual student art show during Academies Parents' Weekend last month. The event, held at the Culver Cove, once again displayed both three-dimensional creations as well as photography, paintings, and other two-dimensional mediums, from students at both Culver Community Middle and High Schools, and Culver
Academies. This year's judges were Joyce Lyman and Sean Surrisi, said Karen Blocker of the Epsilon Nu (Culver) chapter of Tri Kappa. The "People's Choice" award is given to pieces reciving the most number of votes from members of the public who attended the show.
This year's Best of Show went to Anissa Holmes (Culver Academies), for her painting, "Walking." The People’s Choice award went to Academies student Alex Van Pelt, for "Red-Haired Girl," a drawing.
Judged winners in the drawing category included "Red-Haired Girl," Alex Van Pelt (CA), first place; "Still Life," Alyssa Binion (CCHS), second place; "Dad," Justin Croy (CCHS), third place; and "Peaceful Pasture," Alyssa Binion (CCHS), fourth place.
In the painting category, "My Impression," by Nick Pritz (CCHS) took first place; "The Last Petal," Grace Lorenz (CCHS) second; "Still Life," Kacie Hermanson (CA), third; "Apple Blossom," Erin Bau (CCHS), fourth; and "Tryptich," Alyssa Weeks (CA), fifth. In the photography category, "Bill Time," Brianna Bennett (CA) received first place; "Red
Splash," Emily Rich (CA), second; "Thirsty," Stella Serne CA, third; "Yellow Dome Light," Sarah Rakich (CA), fourth; "Gated Pasture," Henry Brewer (CA), fifth; "Placed," Ruini Ma (CA), sixth.
Printmaking honorees included "Ghost Doll," Wei-Wei Huang (CA), first place; "Hills," Andi Esponda CA, second; "Tea Time," Huiwen Xiao (CA),third place.
Sculptures awarded were "Howling Dog," Crystal Rouse (CCHS), first place; "Earl," Kacie Hermanson (CA), second; "Fire Hot T," Austin Brissette, CMS, third; "Unicorn," Ashley Cox (CCHS), fourth.
In the Middle School category, first place went to "Confusion" by Donna Zehflel; second to "Eye of the Beholder," Katie Blocker; and third to "Hidden Beast," by David Dare.
