LAKEVILLE â€” South Bend native and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Stremme will return to the Newton Center in Lakeville this Saturday as the site plays host to a dirt track racing seminar from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
With the Plymouth Speedway making the switch from asphalt to dirt next racing season, Stremme will talk about racing on dirt during a welcoming ceremony scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. A tire tech seminar from Shannon Rush of Hoosier Tire will follow from 10 to 11, and from 11 to noon Mike Hollifield of Buzzard Race Cars, Sherman Enterprisesâ€™ Todd Sherman and Sweet Manufacturingâ€™s Randy Sweet will hold a Chassis Round Table.
Lunch is scheduled from noon to 12:45, when fans and drivers will have the opportunity for meet-and-greets and one-on-ones with presenters, vendors and track management.
After lunch, Tim Frost of the National Speedway Directory will speak on the state of racing, while Joe Gaerte of Gaerte Engines and Bruce Hogue of Hogue Engines give an engine talk from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Rodney Stealy of Concept Chassis will hold a USAC 600 Sprint discussion from 1:45 to 2:30. From 2:30 to 2:45 there will be a racing safety presentation by PXP Racewear, and Plymouth Speedway management will wrap things up with a discussion of rules, procedure and the schedule for the 2013 track season.
Several cars will also be on display Saturday, including Stremmeâ€™s modified, and there will be drawings for prizes and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Newton Center.
