Strategy to develop Downtown Plymouth discussed

August 8, 2014

PLYMOUTH — The Downtown Revitalization board started to discuss new ideas for the Plymouth downtown area at their Aug. 6 meeting.

Committee member Dan Tyree suggested that the council begin to focus on housing in the downtown area, as well as providing incentives for businesses and investors to take a look at the downtown Plymouth area.

Having once consulted with Valparaiso, the council discussed the idea of bring one to two more restaurants into the downtown area. Valparaiso had great success with their restaurant expansion, according to Tyree.

Providing incentives for chefs and business owners to want to come to the area, as well as adding property to the area to go onto the tax rolls were two strategies discussed in length.
