Spell Bowl team finishes first at area competition

NAPPANEE — The NorthWood High School Spell Bowl Team finished first in Class 2A at the Area Spell Bowl Competition that was held at Northridge High School on Monday, Oct. 15. All 10 members of the team improved their scores from previous contests. Both Cally Miller and Sarah McNeill had near perfect scores.
After the competition, the scores from the 18 sites in the state of Indiana were tabulated and the top teams with the highest scores in each of the four enrollment classifications were given the honor of competing at the state finals at Purdue University Nov. 10. When the results from the Class 2 A were announced, the NorthWood High School Spell Bowl Team finished 15th out of 36 schools. The top six schools from Class 2 qualified for the state competition.
Tuesday, Oct. 9, the NWHS Spell Bowl Team finished second at the NLC Spell Bowl Competition which was held at NorthWood with the Plymouth High School team taking top honors.
