Speed limit to be lowered on Lincoln Highway

MARSHALL COUNTY — Speed limits for at least one county road is going down, based on information presented at Tuesday’s Marshall County Commissioner’s meeting.

In one of three road count surveys done by the Marshall County Highway Department, results indicated that the speed on Lincoln Highway needed to be reduced to 45 miles per hour from Pioneer to the city limits where it becomes 35 mph. The area has several businesses, private residents and a day care.

The commissioners noted some of the excessive speeds recorded on the road. There were several incidents recorded of individuals traveling well above 55 mph. That included a few around 70 mph.

Studies were also conducted on 3rd Road near Rentown in Bremen and on 1A Road from Oak Road to the Lapaz city limits.
