WAKARUSA — The latest session of the Wa-Nee Community Board of School Trustees was a true exercise in efficiency, as the members blazed through a spartan agenda in less than 10 minutes.
The first order of business Monday, Nov. 26 was to attend to a small slate of staffing changes, including the following new hires:
— Stephanie Lechlitner, Prime Time assistant at Woodview Elementary, effective Dec. 3
— Sharon Telschow, seventh grade Special Education assistant at NorthWood Middle, effective Jan. 7
— Sarah Chupp, temporary eighth grade Math teacher at NorthWood Middle, effective Jan. 7 through May 30
— Cathy Schmucker, Title I Interventionist.
There was also a resignation, that of Adrienne Phelps as girls track coach for NorthWood Middle, effective Nov. 9.
The board then approved a number of field trip requests submitted by Stephen Sherk, sponsor for the NorthWood Middle School Ski Club. The group will be traveling to three ski resorts in Michigan in the coming months, including Swiss Valley in Jones, Timber Ridge in Gobles, and Bittersweet in Otsego. The trips are being planned to take place on Friday evenings or on Saturdays, beginning in December, and continuing through the winter.
Several individuals were given the nod to accept spring special service contracts for a number of seasonal sports. Each will receive a financial stipend corresponding to their position. Those coaches and their assistants will be:
— Matt Cox, NWHS Varsity Baseball assistant.
— Tom Lane, NWHS Junior Varsity Baseball assistant.
— Jeff Stillson, NWHS Junior Varsity Softball head coach
— Jeff Biller, NWHS boys Track assistant coach
— Bill Mitschelen, NWHS girls Track assistant coach
— Matt Cox, NWMS summer Baseball.
— Randy Lawson, NWMS Golf coach
— Jenni Wysong, NWHS girls Tennis assistant
— Deb Anthony, NWMS seventh grade girls Track
— Rod Lone, NWMS 8th Grade Girls’ Track.
— Mike Klotz, Junior Varsity Softball assistant.
And in the evening’s final order of business, the board gave an affirmative vote to a recommendation of canceling the second December session, originally scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Dec. 27. The members agreed that because of the Christmas holiday and vacation time, it would be wise to address year-end issues at the first scheduled meeting in January.
The next meeting of the Wa-Nee Community Board of School Trustees will take place Monday, Dec. 10, starting at 6:30 p.m. This session features a change of venue as it will be held at NorthWood Middle School.Â
