Sharing the holiday spirit

Jennifer Martin of Country Auto presents Maria McCloud-Wallace with a certificate for a turkey dinner.

PLYMOUTH — The staff at Country Auto in Ply-mouth knows that hard economic times and the holidays in full swing make it difficult for many to get the needed preventative care for their cars and trucks.
Co-owner Jennifer Martin decided to make it a little easier by offering an oil change discount coupon called “Don’t Be a Turkey” in The Shopper and then, just for fun, held a drawing for a turkey dinner.
Tuesday, Martin drew the name of Maria McCloud-Wallace and presented her with the coupon from Martin’s Super Market entitling her to a 12-14 pound precooked turkey with all the trimmings.
McCloud-Wallace said, “I’ve never won anything. My husband had handed me the coupon and suggested I get my oil changed. I actually forgot that I was automatically eligible for the drawing.”
McCloud-Wallace said they hadn’t planned on a big dinner for the day, but were looking forward to it with the coupon.
Martin said, “We wanted to make someone’s day a little brighter.”
