PLYMOUTH — Ruth E. Stolte, age 84, a resident of Plymouth, formerly of Bourbon, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at 2:45 p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living with family by her side.
Ruth was born the daughter of Ed Goff and Ruth Modell Bennitt at La Porte, Feb. 11, 1926. She was married March 17, 1946 to Ralph L. Stolte at Wanatah, who later died Jan. 22, 1995.
They were blessed with their two children who survive, Kirby Eugene and wife Norene A. Stolte of Fort Wayne and Debra K. and husband Rick D. Powell of Plymouth; as well as her six grandchildren: Chad Matthew and wife Heather Stolte of Wanatah, Kristi Ellen Stolte of Fort Wayne, Derek C. Adams of Indianapolis, Dustin D. Adams of Plymouth, Craig Powell of Fishers, Matthew and wife Renee Powell of Plymouth; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by a sister, Marylin Holman of LaPorte; and three brothers: Raymond Gene and wife Janet Goad of Union Mills, James S. and wife Mary Jane Goad of Fort Worth, Texas and Dwight A. and wife Eliza Goad of Union Mills.
She had been a resident of the LaPorte area until she and her husband moved to Bourbon to their farm in 1953. She was a graduate of Union Mills High School. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their dairy farm south of Bourbon until they retired in 1986 from dairy, but continued to produce grain on their farm until Ralph passed away of a brain tumor. Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ in Bourbon and a member of the Red Hat Society.
A son, Steven Lewis Stolte, died May 22, 1965; a sister, Delores A. Zeisig and an infant brother, Frank B. Goad all preceded her in death.
In honoring her wishes, cremation will take place.
In celebration of Ruth’s life, the family will receive friends at a memorial visitation Sunday, Dec. 5 in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. The time of sharing memories will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. with Pastor Jim Irwin offering words of encouragement to those in attendance.
Burial will follow later in the Patton Cemetery near LaPorte.
The family would prefer donors make a memorial contributions in her memory to a charity of their choice.
