PORTER — Russell Warren Larson (Osowski), 93, of Porter passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his home. He was born Dec. 15, 1918 in Gary to Harry and Edith Asplund Larson, both of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children Ronald (Genny) Larson of Portage and Barbara (Thomas) Osowski of Walkerton, grandchildren Rhonda (Tim) Hamilton and Steven (Melissa) Larson, great-grandchildren Sarah Hamilton, Alexis, Victoria, Madison and Steven Jr. Larson and his stepgreat-grandchildren Cody Duncan and Austin Hogenson. Russ is also survived by his sister Doris (Lee) Thrasher of Gary, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Peggy Newton of Ogden Dunes and his caregiver Carol Townsend of Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife Iris Newton Larson Oct. 19, 2011 and a brother Raymond Larson.
Russ was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Lodge. He graduated from Gary Emerson High School and was an operating engineer with 50 years of service with Local #150.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. CDT from the Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will be in the Burstrom Cemetery, Porter. The family will receive friends Friday, May 11, 2012 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. CDT at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
Memorials may be given to Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and VNA Hospice, Valparaiso in Russ’ name.
