LAKEVILLE — Ruby J. Smith, 72, of Lakeville, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Friday, April 12 at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Ruby was born July 5, 1940 in Winamac to the late George L. and Garnet L. (Enyeart) Beauchamp. She resided in the Michiana area her lifetime.
On Oct. 13, 1956 in Knox, as Ruby J. Beauchamp, she married Leonard Irvin Smith, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1990.
Ruby is survived by one son; Tab C. (Marcia) Smith of Mesa, Ariz., one son-in-law; Robert Blount of Rochester, one sister; Sandra D. (Lawrence) Bennett of North Port, Fla., eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter; Kimberly D. Blount on Feb. 10, 2011, one son; Douglas L. Smith on Dec. 8, 2009 and one sister; Sherry M. Howard on July 9, 2003.
She loved playing BINGO, listening to country music, watching auto racing, being with family, and she cherished all her grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit Monday, April 15 from 4-8 p.m. at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home South Bend. The funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ervin Mize officiating and burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.
