Rockies rolling into Rochester

August 27, 2010

PLYMOUTH — The Rockies got off to a rocky start to the 2010 season.
Twice Plymouth gave up scores to Bremen and had to play catch-up in the first half of the two teams' opening game last Friday at the Rock.
Twice first-year quarterback Houston Hodges was picked off, and Plymouth's secondary got burned on 7-of-8 passing for 108 yards and a score by Bremen junior quarterback Nate Leeper and the Lions' newly-installed pro style offense in the first half.
The good news is that the overwhelmingly young Rockies seemed to settle in after halftime and rolled to an eventual 42-19 win over Bremen. And hey, a win is always a win.
"We are who we are, and there's not a whole lot of guys to choose from," said Plymouth head football coach John Barron. "This is our team, and we like these guys, we just have to play better. We have to play with more confidence and keep things going. On the plus side, we are 1-0. We were able to attain our goal of staying undefeated after the first week, and I think Bremen's a good football team, and they're going to beat some people... From that standpoint, we're happy, but we've got a lot of mistakes to correct."
