Robert Noel Spowart

CULVER â€” Robert Noel Spowart, of Culver and Englewood, Fla., 65, passed away after a brief battle with cancer.
Bob was born to Noel and Eileen Spowart. He graduated from Gavit High School, attended Vincennes University and Indiana State University. He earned an associate degree in printing from Vincennes. Bob joined the Navy and served aboard the USS America during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from service he worked and retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying such activities as fishing, hunting, golf and gardening. In his younger years, he could be found water skiing where he won many trophies for ski jumping. He loved to make things with his hands; he built model ships and duck decoys in his spare time and was a member of VFW Post 6919. Bob lived most of his life in Hammond. Upon retiring he split his time between homes in Culver and Englewood, Fla.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Eileen Spowart. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Roberta, his daughters Tammy Rollo (Tom) and Wendy Spowart (Rob Riggle, Robby, Kaylee) and granddaughter Shelby Spowart Takacs.
A memorial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lake Shore Drive, Culver. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and service immediately to follow.
The family requests donations be sent to Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN, 46536, in remembrance of Robert Spowart.
