KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Robert (Bob) Eugene Shoemaker, 82, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Dec. 3. Mr. Shoemaker was born in Rochester, March 6, 1930, to Ralph and Beatrice (Shimer) Shoemaker. He was a former resident of both Argos and Rock Hill, S.C. Mr. Shoemaker attended Hanover College in Indiana, before honorably serving his country in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War. Mr. Shoemaker’s natural charisma and interest in people were excellent characteristics that contributed to his successful sales management career. Mr. Shoemaker delighted in his Lord, his family, his friends, sports, and nature. He served numerous years and impacted many young lives as a volunteer baseball coach. Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by his cherished wife of nearly 60 years, Eileen Pershing Shoemaker. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Ben Clough of Plymouth; his son Michael Shoemaker of Knoxville, Tenn.; his daughter and son-in-law Karen and Billy Woodruff of Huntersville, N.C.; his two precious grandchildren, Kaleena and Woody Woodruff, also of Huntersville, N.C.; and stepgranddaughter Shawn Rago of Indianapolis. The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bearden United Methodist Church, 4407 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, Tenn., with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Committal Services will immediately follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
