Risner and Coad power Knox over Argos in boys Winter Classic opener

December 29, 2010

ARGOS — Knox defense was the key to the defeat of Argos in Round 1 of the Winning Edge Winter Classic, but it was really Redskins Josh Risner and Elliott Coad’s teamwork that unlocked Knox’s full power.
The Redskins’ in-your-face defense held the Dragons to just seven points in the second half for a 45-26 win that carried the Redskins to the championship game of the tournament to be held Thursday at Argos.
Todd Boldry, head coach for Knox, said he knew defense was going to make or break his team all night.
“We wanted to pressure Argos full court, because they had two freshmen guards starting,” he said.
