Argos rolls over Logan
The Argos girls’ soccer team rolled to a 7-0 win over visiting Logansport. Courtney Dunlap and Katie Williams started the offense off for the Dragons, as they combined on passes and found Hannah Harrell for a shot just inside the far post in the eighth minute. Megan Ditmire had a hard volley just outside the 18 for a second Argos goal. Dunlap placed a low roller past the Berry keeper just before the half to account for the 3-0 score at the break.
The Lady Dragons started the second half quickly as Dunlap had two scores in the first two minutes. A cross by the sophomore forward hit a Berry defender and rolled in, and Williams combined with Dunlap to get through the defense a minute later.
Valerie Rospopo scored a shot from outside, while Mariah Lineberry’s cross was knocked in by Shanna Miller to complete the score sheet.
Argos didn’t allow a shot until a long ball from outside late in the game was collected easily by Abby Manikowski.
Argos had a 23-1 edge in shots on goal and six corner kicks to none for the visitors.
The Dragons, now 4-1-1 on the year, travel to Wawasee Thursday for a 5:30 pm, varsity-only contest.
In JV action, Argos got goals from Makayla Reynolds, Macee Strycker, Lexi VanDerWeele, Ashley Dean, and Abby Manikowski in a 5-1 win. VanDerWeele, Sydney Horn and Sydney Miller had assists, as the JV moved to 3-1 on the season.
