Culver goes to the air in comeback win at Knox
The passing attack of Culver accounted for three second half touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers over Knox Friday night 25-24.
The Cavaliers trailed 17-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
Colin Stevens hit Micah Budzinski from nine yards out then on a 67-yard bomb with 2:22 left in the game to pull Culver to within two at 24-23.
Rather than go for the tie, Stevens hit Trent Elliott on a two-point conversion to give Culver its first lead of the game.
The Cavalier defense then held strong to seal the Northern State Conference win.
Knox’s Nevin Miller pulled his team ahead late with a two-yard run and just 2:33 left in the game.
Culver responded with the long pass from Stevens to Budzinski just 11 seconds later.
Stevens finished 8 of 18 for 137 yards and the three touchdowns for Culver. Preston Hansel was 2 of 2 for 63 yards for the Cavaliers as well. Hansel also had a touchdown pass.
Budzinski finished his night with six catches for 152 yards.
Garrett Majchrzak led a balanced run game for Knox in its lose.
Majchrzak finished with 101 yards on 19 carries.
Mike Sustaita rushed 16 times for 81 yards.
Knox falls to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in the NSC.
The Redskins travel to Bremen Friday night.
Culver ups its record to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the NSC. The Cavaliers host Jimtown Friday night at 7 p.m.

Triton falls to New Prairie in NSC action, 56-17
Triton remained winless on the season with a 56-17 defeat at the hands of Northern State Conference foe New Prairie.
New Prairie racked up a whopping 434 yards on the ground while Triton managed just 95 on 31 carries.
Wade Young led the way for New Prairie with 200 yards on 24 carries.
Triton quarterback Bryson Moiser led the Trojans with 175 yards through the air on 9 of 18 passing. Moiser had a touchdown and an interception.
The Trojans’ Cody Shively ran the ball 19 times for 75 yards while Cain Thorne had five catches for five catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Triton looks to get its first win of the year when it travels to LaVille Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
