CMA tops Rockies
Luther Jacobs scored twice, and Culver Military trumped sectional rival Plymouth 2-1 at home Tuesday.
Jacobs tallied an unassisted score in the first half then scored the game-winner on a Manuel Ituarte assist after Alex Orellana tied the game up with a solo goal in the second half.
Eric Aguilar made 10 saves in his return at goalkeeper for Plymouth.

Argos earns NISC win
Argos moved to 3-0 in the Northern Indiana Soccer Conference with a 5-0 win over Trinity at home at Eugene Snyder Field Tuesday.
Dominic Cataldo scored twice, Damon Binkley recorded a goal and two assists, and Sean Mullaney scored and tallied an assist at the contest.
Eric Rodriguez also scored, and Zach Stockman registered an assist in the win. Jacob Mechling made four saves for the shutout as Argos improved to 8-1 overall.

Girls soccer
Lady Lions rip Rochester
Four different Lady Lions scored, and Bremen outshot visiting Rochester 26-6 in a 4-1 at home Tuesday.
Jasmine Aguayo put Bremen on the board on a Jasmine Schafer assist in the 32nd minute and Kelsa Anderson scored an insurance goal in the 49th minute. Amanda Napier scored in the 70th minute and assisted Marisa Browning’s goal in the 79th minute to bring the game to its final margin.

Volleyball
Knox beats Bremen in 5
Knox battled back from an opening set loss to beat Bremen in a back-and-forth Northern State Conference volleyball match at Bremen Tuesday, 14-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 15-8.
Kaitlin Zachary led all attackers with 19 kills for Knox, while Nikki Frasure passed out 32 assists. Cara Hasnerl and Torie Elliott each served up four aces in the win.
Cassie Sears led the Lady Lions attack with 15 kills. Chelsea Huppert and Brooke Baker finished with four blocks apiece, and Baker notched three aces in the loss.

LaVille loses in 4 at Tippy Valley
The LaVille volleyball team lost a tough decision at Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday night, 28-26, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22.
Kyla Coblentz led the defense with 33 digs while Lynae Hostrawser added three solo blocks. Kelsey Gurtner set a personal best with an impressive 20 kills Katie Berger led the Lady Lancers in setting with 15 assists.

Triton lost a tough five-setter on the road in Elkhart Christian Tuesday, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 15-11.
Krystal Sellers served up eight aces, Breanna Lemler finished with nine kills, Marissa Ross set 16 assists to go with four digs, and Shana Anderson finished with five kills and four digs.
The JV Lady Trojans battled from behind to win a three-game thriller, 14-25, 25-19, 15-14.

Pilgrims win NLC match
Plymouth earned its third Northern Lakes Conference win with a 4-1 victory over visiting Elkhart Memorial Tuesday.
Gabe Vervynckt won in three sets at 1 singles, and John Hunter claimed a straight-set win at 3 singles. Matt Flynn and Jack Holloway recorded a 7-2 tiebreaker win to put away their 1 doubles opponents in straight sets, and Kameron Eisehour and Kendall Fosler also won in straight sets for the Pilgrims, who improved to 8-3 with a 3-2 NLC mark.

Trojans rebound in NSC play
Triton whitewashed host New Prairie in a 5-0 Northern State Conference victory on the road in New Carlisle Tuesday.
The Trojans won in straight sets on all courts to move to 7-4 on the year and 3-1 in the conference bouncing back from a tough loss at Bremen Monday.

Culver Military Academy won Plymouth’s JV Tennis Tournament with 23 points Saturday, while the host Pilgrims finished fourth with 14 points.
Max Holloway finished third at 1 singles and Spencer Maecroft placed third at 3 singles for Plymouth. Ryan Johnson and Garrett Fox finished third at 1 doubles, Brayden Davidson and George Stults were third at 2 doubles, and Nate Knapp finished fifth at 2 singles.

Jr high cross country
Lincoln competes at Indian Springs Invite
On Saturday the Lincoln cross country team traveled to Indian Springs to run against 20 teams from around the area. The team saw many personal bests and time drops as it competed with over 800 runners.
In the boys varsity race, Jeffrey Oliver finished first for the Red Storm with a time of 12:43 with Jordan Morrow and Micah Calhoun finishing close behind. Zach Moser took the lead for the Red Storm in the reserve race with a time of 13:47 with Isa Frias and Chase Johnson placing close behind.
For the ladies, Rachel Crawford led the Red Storm to take 25th place with a time of 12:28, with Katelyn Carothers and Tia Freshour close behind. Katie McCormick, Pamela Rosas, Ally Dolan and Rachael Dodson led the Red Storm in the reserve race.

Women’s college tennis
Area grads win for Manchester
Plymouth grad Kara Gilley and Bremen alum Brandy Leeper teamed up for a win at 1 doubles as Manchester’s women’s tennis team in a loss to Hanover.
NorthWood products Ashley McClintic and Alli Heeter each claimed singles wins at 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
Men’s college cross country
Nordmann finishes
3rd at Bluffton invite
Triton alum Curtis Nordmann placed third individually to help lift Manchester to the team title at Bluffton University’s Back to Nature Preserve Invitational Saturday.
Nordmann turned in a 26:46 as the Spartans grabbed four of the top five spots at the invite.

Women’s college volleyball
Ancilla wins 2
The Lady Chargers earned a pair of wins Saturday, beating Cedarville 25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 25-22 and Grace 25-16, 25-15, 26-24.
Kristen Trudell passed out 65 assists on the day, while middles Kaylia Richardson and Jess Moore of Walkerton had outstanding weekends contributing 23 and 18 kills respectively with only five errors between them.
Hayley Mavrick also had a solid weekend with 16 kills, 26 digs and 10 service aces. Keri Friend finished 36 digs anchoring the defense.
Ancilla improves to 7-4 with the wins.
Men’s college soccer
Chargers fall to
No. 15 Cincinnati State
Ancilla suffered a 6-0 loss to NJCAA DI No. 15 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (4-2).
The Chargers couldn’t match Cincinnati State’s speed of play, but Rene Mejia and Alex Rosowicz each gave valiant efforts in the goal to keep Ancilla in the game.
The Chargers (1-2-1) travel on the road this weekend for two games in Ohio to face conference opponent Cuyahoga and then Lakeland College.
