Boal, McCallum compete at South Bend Motor Speedway
North Liberty’s Ben McCallum and Plymouth’s Rich Boal competed in racing action at the South Bend Motor Speedway Saturday night.
A crash on Friday at Plymouth and engine woes eliminated three of the top running cars in the Bellman Oil Company Late Models at South Bend. Boal, driving the R&B Car Company/Gene Davis #2, crashed hard into the backstretch wall and also collected his own car driven by Rich Hensley. Points leader Jeff Ganus had an engine let go in his car on Friday night at M40 Speedway relegating both he and Boal to borrowed cars. In the 30-lap feature, Ganus took the Lee Slaton #55 to victory lane for his 5th win of the season. Kenny Lollar Jr. of Buchanan finished 2nd ahead of Boal in the Mike Radant-owned car.
McCallum finished fifth in the Mini Stock feature, originally scheduled for 25 laps but called complete at 20 after seven cautions in the race.
