Young Plymouth lineup opens with win
Plymouth's boys tennis team unveiled a young and talented singles lineup in a 5-0 victory over visiting Kokomo at home in Centennial Park Monday night.
Sophomore John Hunter made the jump up from 3 singles last year to the No. 1 spot in this year's Pilgrims lineup, putting away Kokomo senior Craig Simon in straight 6-3 sets, while freshman John Gerard trumped Wildkats senior Bryce York 6-4, 6-2 at 2 singles, and sophomore Nate Knapp won his 3 singles match with Blake Brookshire 6-2, 6-3.
Plymouth's doubles tandems also won in straight sets as senior Matt Flynn and junior Max Holloway beat Brad Dockemeyer and Erik Bowen in straight 6-2 sets, and junior Ryan Johnson and sophomore 2 doubles teammate Braydon Davidson beat Joey Hurlocker and Jacob Farkas in a pair of 6-3 sets.
The Pilgrims will play another home match tonight against Knox at 5 p.m.

Girls soccer
Culver opens with 7-0 loss at Warsaw
Brooklyn Jackson scored four goals with two assists, and Warsaw racked up 30 shots in a 7-0 shutout of Culver Community in the two teams' season-opener in Warsaw Monday.
Jackson scored twice in the first half and finished a hat trick in the 43rd minute of the match. She netted the Lady Tigers their last goal in the 52nd minute as Mickella Hardy made a valiant 18 saves in goal for the out-gunned Cavaliers.
Elizabeth VanWormer scored twice with an assist, and Danielle Hutcherson finished with a goal and two assists for Warsaw, which outshout Culver 30-7 and took seven corner kicks in the win.

Girls golf
Bremen beats Plymouth
Sophomore Alex Homman led Bremen with a 49, and the Lady Lions handed host Plymouth a 203-210 defeat in a dual meet at the Plymouth Country Club Monday evening.
Kayliegh Daily and Kaitlyn Ahlenius carded a pair of 51s, and Melissa Krathwohl finished close behind with a 52 for Bremen in the win. Gina Thorton shot 64 in the fifth spot in the Lions lineup, meanwhile.
Plymouth was led by Kelly Henderson's meet-low 47 playing in the third flight, while Morgan Oberly shot 51 in the fourth spot, Emily Denney carded a 55, and Katie McDonald shot 57 to complete the Pilgrims' team score. Katie Johnson was close behind with a 58.
The Pilgrims will host Wawasee and Elkhart Memorial Wednesday at the
Plymouth Country Club, while Bremen travels to McCormick Creek for a tri-way with NorthWood and Riley tonight.

Glenn tops Triton
John Glenn topped Triton 199-233 in a dual Northern State Conference girls golf meet at Swan Lake Monday.
Madeleine Silvey shot 48 to pace Glenn, while Anna Schmeltz was close on her heels with a 49, and Morgan Eggleston finished one stroke back at 50. Emma Reese completed the Lady Falcons' score with a 52 as Glenn moved to 5-0 in dual meets, and Kaylee Matz finished in 55 on the Black Course at Indiana National.
Hannah Jennings shot 47 to lead the field for Triton, while Lizzy Erne turned in a 56, Lille Berger shot 62, and Kayla Kreft carded 68. Courtney Zentz shot 77 for the Trojans, who slipped to 1-3 with the loss.

Men's golf
PCC Club Championship results
Jason Christy won the championship flight as the Plymouth Country Club released its Club Championship results Monday.
Rob Carmichael came in second behind Christy, while Matt Chamberlin won the first flight, Ed Hupp was the second flight winner, and Darren Scott topped the third flight standings at the event, which took place Saturday and Sunday at the Plymouth Country Club.
Jan Starr was the women's champion, and Mitch Chamberlin finished runner-up.
