Plymouth opens with loss at Kokomo
Plymouth’s boys tennis team opened its season with a 4-1 defeat on the road at Kokomo Monday.
The Pilgrims’ lone win came at 1 singles, where Gabe Vervynckt started off his senior season with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Craig Simon.
On the 1 singles court, meanwhile, Matt Flynn and Kendall Fosler extended Kokomo’s Andrew Schten and Joe Farkas to 13 games in both sets but fell in two tiebreakers, 7-5 and 7-1.
Plymouth’s next match is Thursday as the Pilgrims host Northern Lakes Conference foe Wawasee at 4:45 p.m.

DOUBLES: 1. Andrew Schten-Joe Farkas beat Matt Flynn-Kendall Fosler 7-6(5), 7-6(1); 2. Brandon Newton-Parker Sanburn beat Kameron Eisehour-Ryan Johnson, 6-3, 7-6(4).

Glenn tops Triton
John Glenn topped Triton 229-241 in a dual Northern State Conference meet at Rozella-Ford Monday.
The Lady Falcons were led by Morgan Eggleston’s 53, while Emma Reese and Presley Gee carded respective scores of 57 and 58, and Kaylee Matz rounded out the team score with a 61.
Triton was paced by Hannah Jennings’ low round of 46, while Lizzy Erne shot a 49, but the Lady Trojans couldn’t find the third and fourth scores to beat Glenn. Lillie Berger carded a 69, and Kayla Kreft shot a 77.

LaVille splits, NorthWood wins 3-way
LaVille split a three-way meet while NorthWood topped both the Lady Lancers and Tippecanoe Valley in a triangular at McCormick Creek Monday.
Lauren Read led LaVille with a 43, while Shayla Eggert shot a 53, and Whitney Brown and Melissa Hall carded dual 59s.
Heidi Morganthaler shot a meet-low 34 for NorthWood, while Kate Adams and Rachel Beebe both carded 48, and Linzzie Richner shot a 50.
